Unlike Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) that depend on the elder to press a button to summon emergency aid or systems that track whether an elder has moved during a period when movement is expected, IndependiCare provides immediate, individualized feedback messages as appropriate.
The Elder wears an RFID Tag Reader and interacts with RFID Tags placed on target objects. Each installation is tailored to the individual elder or elders.
When the elder gets in proximity of a given RFID Tag, they are given an associated voice message, like “Watch out for the stairs!”
